EVAN PASION
MVVC 15-1 Head Coach

I first played volleyball for my school’s team in 5thgrade, and the sport has been a passion of mine ever since. I grew up inthe bay area, playing high school volleyball at Saint Francis in Mountain Viewand playing for South Bay and Bay to Bay volleyball clubs. After highschool, I went on to play 4 years of NCAA Division I volleyball at PrincetonUniversity. Playing competitive volleyball was huge part of myadolescence, and taught me important lessons about leadership, hard work, andsacrifice. When I returned to the bay area, I knew that I wanted to startcoaching and teaching to stay involved with sports and pass on the lessons Ihad learned as a player.
I had been involved with coaching girls’volleyball for a few years, but my first introduction to coaching boys was in2008, when I started teaching math at Saint Francis and met Mike Rubin andBrian Wahl. I’ve been coaching the JV boys’ team at Saint Francis sincethen, and I love to be part of such a competitive program. When Mike and Brian started MVVC, Icoached the only team and we went to just one tournament. I have been a part of MVVC eversince. I was also fortunate to bean assistant coach on our 17-Red team that won a bronze medal at JuniorNationals in 2011.
My coaching philosophy is to provide every playerwith an opportunity to improve every chance I can. I love teaching fundamental skills and seeing players makehuge progress over the course of a season. I strive to teach my players the value discipline, teamworkand integrity. In my free time Ienjoy playing pickup basketball, bowling, and playing video games with theother MVVC coaches. Some thingsyou may not know about me are that I spearheaded a group that covered MikeRubin’s bedroom in sport court, I was voted Best Looking Assistant Coach 2011(sorry ladies), and I love hedgehogs.
