Matt Bright

MVVC 16-2 Head Coach

I started playing volleyball at Saint Francis HighSchool in my sophomore year. After playing two years of varsity ball under MikeRubin as an outside hitter I was awarded 2nd team all-WCAL honors and CCShonorable mention my senior year. As for club volleyball I played on MikeRubin's Santa Cruz Volleyball Club for two years before switching over to CCVCmy senior year. That year I played on the 18-2s team that finished 7th overallin Northern California.

When my high school days ended I attended SaintMary's College of California, where I received my degree in communication, andplayed four years of club volleyball for the school. This was a greatexperience for me because I was able to play a full season at many differentpositions. My freshman year I started at middle blocker and was awardedfirst-team all NCCVL but I missed my sophomore season due to a broken ankle. After that I started at setter in my junior season before finally moving backto my original position as an outside hitter my senior year garnering NCCVLhonorable mention.

With my competitive playing days pretty much over Iwanted to stay involved in the sport in any way I could. I had heard aboutMountain View Volleyball Club and how fast the club was rising in the Bay Areavolleyball scene and I really wanted to be a part of it. I spent the last yearas an assistant coach for Diablo valley's girl’s 16-2s team and am very excitedto start coaching for MVVC. Just like any sport the main goals of playingcompetitive volleyball are to have fun and learning to be a better overallplayer, and I am here to help the players achieve these goals.
