BRIAN WAHL

Director

From a young age, it was always my passion to coach and teach at the high school level.   My first teaching position came just after obtaining my bachelors degree in mathematics, at Santa Clara University.  I first taught at Serra High School in San Mateo.  During those first couple of years of teaching, I continued my education at the University of San Francisco.  There I received a Masters in Education and a teaching credential.
While at Serra one of my colleagues, Eric Plett, heard that I had played volleyball.  For close to 2 years Eric encouraged me to coach the JV volleyball team and I finally took him up on the offer and coached my last year at Serra.   In 2000, I started teaching at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View and for more than 10 years now I have coached JV boys’ volleyball and teach mathematics.  I love coaching and have had the opportunity in coaching many collegiate players over the years and be influenced and inspired by a number of varsity coaches in the WCAL.
Volleyball is not only a great sport, it is also a sport that can teach life lessons on and off the court.  I tell my players “Practice hard.  Never come into a match judging how good or bad a team may be, always go in focusing on giving your best.  Win or lose, you can walk away knowing you gave it your all.”  Players can apply this to most things in life.  No matter what challenge they may be faced with, their hard work will give positive results.  I strive to make Mountain View Volleyball Club a Nationally Ranked, Competitive Volleyball Program and a positive, enriching experience for all our players and their families.
