About Mike Rubin

I have been dedicated to improving volleyball in northern California for 9 years. As the head coach at Saint Francis high school I have coached 11 NCAA division 1 players and over 30 collegiate athletes. In my coaching career I have twice been the recipient of the San Jose Mercury Coach of the Year, once received the CCS HONOR Coach award, coached three league championships and one CCS championship. I believe in continuing education and have been both CAP 1 and IMPACT certified by USA volleyball. In addition, I have volunteered at the collegiate level and am currently pursuing a M.A. in education from SCU.

Growing up in San Diego I learned to play volleyball at Seaside Volleyball club and at the sand courts on south Mission beach. I was fortunate enough to continue my playing career at UC Santa Cruz where I was a four-year starter and the first ever UCSC recipient of the AVCA national player of the week award. Playing competitive team sports was the most beneficial experience of my life and I strongly believe that the lessons learned in the gym are lessons in character and last a lifetime. I am committed to building an environment that is highly competitive as a way for each athlete to achieve their goals.
